On Tuesday, after being home sick from strep throat for a few days, I finally ventured out and made it to the Livebeautifully event in NYC. From their website:
Livebeautifully is a campaign and event series celebrating, demonstrating and sampling ways to bring more beauty into daily life. Discover new product launches from brands you know and little-known-secrets from brands everyone will soon be talking about. Embrace wellness, style and luxury trends and treatments paired with the best in beauty, all under one roof. Livebeautifully is presented by PrettyCity.com in partnership with SHAPE Magazine.
Livebeautifully showcased up and coming spas, beauty products, and retailers. If you were lucky and got their early enough, you could sign up for free massages, makeup applications, blowouts, etc. Though none of the big name sponsors (Redken Aveda Shape Magazine) gave out freebies, the lesser known brands offered complimentary services and take aways. It was a really cool event actually, just way too many people! Even though I got there for the private media/VIP hour before the event opened to the public, we were able to get slots in only for limited services. The event opened to the public at 6:30, and by then slots for the massages and hair styling were booked. We were able to grab one passed hors d’oeuvre though, and there were complimentary glasses of wine if you’re into that sort of thing.
What we walked away with: my sister got a smokey eye done by Chic Studios NYC and both of us had lipgloss applications done by a new boutique makeup line, Tonnae Nicole Cosmetics. The venue was very dimly lit, so my sister’s smokey eye was barely noticeable when we popped into Macy’s, though are lips looked shiny and vibrant. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of full-sized products included in the goody bags. Supposedly valued at over $100, there was a gel eye mask, and full sized: mascara, lip gloss and blush.
So much better than Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out from last month, as we were actually able to get some of the complimentary services. Hosted at a much smaller venue which made for a smaller crowd and a goodie bag with stuff we can actually use!
