Red lips for the Holidays look #1

The holidays are a great time to rock a red lip, especially if you’re afraid to do so otherwise. So you’ve gone out and found that great red lipstick, now what? Over the next 3 days I’ll be showcasing 3 of my favorite eye makeup looks I like pairing with red lips. With that red lipstick in hand, keep on reading to see how putting together a great holiday look can be a breeze!

The first look is the simplest way to wear a red lip – paired with a simple winged eyeliner.

Items needed:

1) Red lipstick: MAC Ruby Woo $15
2) Lip liner: NYX retractable lipliner in Red $4.49

3) Liner: Wet n Wild MegaLiner in Black $2.99

For this look, I started out with my favorite red lipstick from MAC. If you’re looking for a new matte red lipstick, definitely give this a try. To prevent bleeding, I first filled my lips in entirely with NYX’s Red lipliner. The combination with the lipliner and because this matte lipstick is such a dry formula, it is SUPER long wearing and I’ve gone 8+ hours without reapplication.

Excuse the red mark on my nose! After having worn glasses for a few hours, I realized I hadn’t taken a shot of my eyeliner.

On the eyes I used my most favorite liquid eyeliner, Wet n Wild’s in black (click for full review of this product).  For a quick tutorial on how to apply a winged liner, click here. (Hint, break it up into smaller segments instead of shooting to make the line in one shot.) On the rest of my face, I used: Smashbox BB cream, MAC Desert Rose blush and Make Up For Ever Extravagant Eyes mascara. Overall it’s a super simple look that uses very few products. It’s also a look that looks great for glasses wearers. I wore mine later in the day when I went to the movies (yes, Hunger Games Catching Fire for the 2nd time, guilty as charged), and liked how the winged eye and red lip balanced out my thick frames. What do you think?

Stay tuned tomorrow when I share another eye look to pair with a red lip. Please share your comments, I’d love to know what you think of this look!
