Spring cleaning with GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD™ clearing treatment

Hi there! Time is just flying by these days and I can’t believe it’s already May! April was really hectic for me but I’m back with lots of ideas for posts this month!

In NY/NJ the weather is finally starting to be nice, so it feels like Spring is actually here. Before you know it the dog days of summer will be upon us. June is right around the corner, which will kick off a busy summer booked with makeup appointments. I figured now would be a great time to do some posts about spring cleaning! As a makeup artist and blogger I accumulate an insane amount of beauty products so taking the time out to do a spring cleaning really helps tame the chaos. And I usually end up rediscovering forgotten products!
Like any good makeup artist, I thought the best way to kick off spring cleaning would be with using a face mask. Haha it counts as deep cleaning, right? The first of my spring cleaning posts is a review of a mask I tried over the weekend.

The GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD™ clearing treatment is $69 at Sephora. These are the claims on it’s packaging:
What it is:
A scientifically advanced SUPER-MUD™ clearing treatment to target, prevent, and heal problem skin.

This formula was clinically developed by GLAMGLOW® dermatological chemists to help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discoloration, black and white heads, razor bumps, and in-grown hair. Powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to magnetically draw out dirt and pores with Activated-X Charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy-looking.

Based on consumer trials:
After 1 day of use:
– 94% felt their skin looked renewed
– 91% saw an improvement in skin clarity
– 94% felt it gently cleared their skin

On day 7 after using it 3 times in a week:
– 98% felt their skin looked renewed
– 97% saw an improvement in skin clarity
– 97% felt it gently cleared their skin

I was really just looking for something to clean out my pores. Though being able to shrink your pores is a myth, you can actually make them look smaller by keeping them clean.

The mask was applied in a thin layer with a clean foundation brush. This way it was easy to control and evenly spread.

When applied, I felt a gentle tingling feeling mostly around my nose and center of the face, where those darn large pores are! Look at the photo, I can’t believe I’m showing you this! You can visibly see the dots where the charcoal in the mask was magnetically pulling out the impurities.

After about 8-10 minutes the mask was all dried and my face felt very tight. It didn’t get hard though, and was easy to remove with warm water.

My skin felt smoother to the touch and my pores were just a little less noticeable. According to the research on the package, I can use it up to 3x in 7 days for best results. Though I didn’t see a day and night difference, the tingling in my pores meant that it was definitely doing something!

I will have to report back after continued use. Are there any masks that you swear by? I’d love to know!
